Moxxie is a company that was named as such to represent “courage, determination, know-how, and spunk.”
It would take all of those characteristics to help them break into the widely proliferating Scrapbook industry in July 2006 as a small
2 person operation.
The scrapbook idea has been around in some form for a number of years but truly coalesced into a true-blue ‘industry’ in the early 2000’s.
Suddenly, the industry rocketed from a close-knit group of companies started out of owners' living rooms to hundreds of
companies in a multi-billion dollar international market. And from what once was almost homespun items carefully created for a select
end user, scrapbooking items have in some ways become a commodity now easily found in not only your local craft store but in the big box
chains as well.
So how do you differentiate yourself in such a burgeoning marketplace where the items have become more commodity than custom-crafted pieces?
Well, put simply, it takes Moxxie.
Officially opening its doors in July of 2006, Moxxie’s brand of artwork and themed collections were extremely well received at the industry
trade show where they debuted. From that small booth in the New Exhibitor section they have steadily grown into a leader in the themed market.
With such competition in the marketplace also comes price competition, and when Moxxie looked to add rub-on transfers to complement its
existing line of papers and stickers, they felt forced to source the product overseas in order to compete on price. Unfortunately, what
they found accompanying the low prices was poor quality, long lead times and unpredictable circumstances. Suddenly the customer
base they had worked so hard to develop was unhappy with part of their product line – something that can be devastating when trying to grow
your business in such a competitive industry. That’s when Grafika was able to step in and offer a solution with our winning combination of
competitive pricing, faster turnaround, higher quality color management, and an overall higher quality product.
Rub-on transfers are an interesting animal. Essentially you are printing ink onto a surface that it must adhere to only until the end-user
chooses to “rub it on” to another surface. At that point it must release with extreme ease, adhere to a variety of new surfaces, and maintain
the integrity of the original printed image perfectly in the transfer. In fact, it’s nearly the polar opposite of what printing is all about
– getting ink to stick to a surface! It’s such a difficult process that only a handful of printers in the world have the technology,
equipment and know-how to produce them. Grafika is one of them. In fact, since the 1970’s when Grafika produced a line of rub-on transfers
for Gillette under the name “Presto Magix”, we have produced millions of rub-ons for, among others, the home décor and craft industries,
becoming the premier manufacturer of transfers in the world.
Now with well over 50 different Grafika-produced rub-on designs, Moxxie has strengthened its position as one of the industry’s leaders
in the themed market and continues to thrive and stand apart. The peace of mind that comes with knowing they can provide a quality product
from a manufacturer that stands behind its work, and do so at a great value to the customer, allows Moxxie to continue focusing on what is most
important: growing its business with courage, determination, know-how, and spunk.
